More than half, 55%, of all Americans say they see Trump’s presidency as a success, while 44% see it as a failure. Four years ago, he was able to assail Trump’s time in office from his position as a challenger. Biden won all three in 2020 after Trump won them in 2016 in his victory over Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton. In the poll, 92% of Republicans view Trump’s time in office a success, while just 73% of Democrats say Biden’s has been a success. And while 85% of Democrats polled say they back Biden, 91% of Republicans say they support Trump.

There is already an effort underway by wealthy Biden donors to recruit Haley's bundlers and contributors. The Biden Victory Fund raises money for the Biden campaign, the Democratic National Committee and dozens of state parties. "Everyone, including Republican voters who reject Trump's chaos, division, and violence, has a home in President Biden's campaign," said Munoz, the Biden campaign aide. Chris Sununu said he would support former President Donald Trump’s presidential bid this week, falling in line behind the presumptive Republican nominee after former South Carolina Gov. I’m going to support Donald Trump,” Sununu told WMUR on Thursday. Sununu’s support for Trump follows months of campaigning and being a vocal advocate for Haley, who exited the Republican presidential race on Wednesday following Trump’s dominance on Super Tuesday. Pressed by CNN’s Kaitlan Collins in January if he would support Trump even if he was a convicted felon, the New Hampshire governor answered, “I will support the Republican nominee, absolutely.”“This shouldn’t shock anybody. If you’re a Republican that can’t win Georgia of November ‘24, you have no shot, and he’s proven that,” Sununu said last summer.

Nikki Haley will announce Wednesday that she is exiting the Republican presidential race, according to sources familiar with her plans, clearing the path for former President Donald Trump. Still, in her campaign, Haley became the first Republican woman to win two primary contests: Vermont and the District of Columbia. Former 2024 candidates, including biotech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott and North Dakota Gov. At the time, Haley was seen as a rising GOP star and potential vice presidential pick in 2012 and 2016. Haley spent six years as governor of South Carolina before becoming Trump’s ambassador to the United Nations in 2017.

His performance so far reflects his success at transforming the Republican Party in his image. The most important message from the primaries is the most straightforward: Trump’s coalition is the dominant faction in the GOP. Like McConnell’s announcement, the choices by GOP elected officials in the primary contest signal their acknowledgement of the party’s direction. The share of GOP elected officials who have endorsed Haley isn’t anywhere near as large as her share of the total vote. But a deeper factor also explains the imbalance in support among GOP elected officials.

Fox held separate pre-Iowa town halls for DeSantis and Haley, but at 6 p.m. before prime time. Frustration boiled over when DeSantis' campaign manager, James Uthmeier, felt that a Fox graphic didn't show the extent of the candidate's appearances in Iowa. Asked by Ainsley Earhardt if she would withdraw if she lost New Hampshire, Haley said she would not. “I don't care how much y'all want to coronate Donald Trump,” Haley said. “I don't need any advice from RINO Kayleigh McEnany on Fox,” Trump wrote on Truth Social, referencing the conservative slur Republican in Name Only.

But with regard to endorsements, Haley hasn’t necessarily benefited from the Trump holdouts, notably because they haven’t gone as far as to endorse her for the nomination. But Iowa caucusgoers and New Hampshire primary voters also exposed noticeable chinks in Trump’s electoral armor and worrying general election headwinds that he and his campaign will face in the coming months. Yes, Trump handily won a head-to-head matchup in a New Hampshire primary contest that wasn’t limited to just Republicans. “Twenty percent of GOP voters will not vote for him,” the Republican member told CNN. Visibly miffed by Haley’s conviction to continue on after New Hampshire, Trump spent the evening lashing out at her online and trashing her appearance in his victory speech. Before then, no candidate in modern history had failed to win his party's contested New Hampshire primary and gone on to win the presidency. Front-runners Biden and former Republican President Donald Trump won their respective party's primaries. As a sitting president in 2020, Trump took 86% of the New Hampshire primary vote and 97% of the vote in the Iowa caucuses. An incumbent president who got 59% of the vote in the Iowa caucuses and close to half in the New Hampshire primary? CNN —Former President Donald Trump made several false claims in a speech Tuesday night after CNN and other media outlets projected that he would win the Republican presidential primary in New Hampshire. CNN also watched rival candidate Nikki Haley’s Tuesday night speech in New Hampshire; Haley’s claims were either accurate or too general to fact check. He lost the 2020 election fair and square to Joe Biden, by a 306 to 232 margin in the Electoral College, and also lost New Hampshire in that election. Chris Sununu, a supporter of Haley, Trump said that because of Sununu’s incompetence, “in the Republican primary, they accepted Democrats to vote. The most recent polling on the race, published Monday by The Washington Post and Monmouth University, signals another Trump shellacking: 52% of potential primary voters said they support Trump, compared with 34% who back Haley. The poll, which was conducted prior to DeSantis dropping out, showed that just 8% of voters preferred him. “Even with a bump in the number of Democratic leaners turning out in the Republican primary, Haley is not able to catch the front-runner,” Patrick Murray, director of the independent Monmouth University Polling Institute, said in a statement. The former U.S. ambassador to the U.N. has the support of New Hampshire Gov. Though still considered a long shot, New Hampshire likely gives Haley her best chance of challenging the former president, especially since any independent or unaffiliated voter can participate in the state’s primary.

The former South Carolina governor is pushing back hard against Trump’s bid to end the GOP primary race after only two nominating contests. She’s calling on voters to make a generational shift and is appealing especially to independents who can join the GOP primary in New Hampshire. According to a CNN poll conducted by the University of New Hampshire before DeSantis dropped out, Haley trailed Trump by 13 points in a two-person race. But like the late Arizona senator, Haley might still have a South Carolina problem. Even Haley’s most vehement supporter, New Hampshire GOP Gov.

Nikki Haley doesn’t defeat former President Donald Trump in New Hampshire’s primary on Tuesday, the fight may be over. Haley said Sunday she would “absolutely” remain in the Republican presidential race through South Carolina’s February 24 primary. Recent departures from the 2024 race have already shaped the New Hampshire Republican primary. Another 3% of likely GOP primary voters say they’d vote for someone else. For her part, Haley insisted Monday on Fox News that she’ll continue in the race, no matter the outcome of the New Hampshire primary.

“America does not do coronations,” Haley said at a VFW hall in Franklin, joined by her daughter and son-in-law. On paper, Trump had seemed more vulnerable in New Hampshire than in any other early voting state on the primary calendar. And Haley had been on the rise, prompting Trump’s campaign and its allies to spend millions trying to blunt her momentum. DeSantis immediately endorsed Trump upon dropping out, saying it was clear to him Republican voters preferred the former president. Polls show Trump still has a double-digit lead ahead of Tuesday's New Hampshire primary. AdvertisementNew Hampshire is only the second state to vote in the 2024 Republican presidential primary, but some of former President Donald Trump's foes already look desperate. Iowa's Republican caucuses were the first contest, but New Hampshire has gone to great lengths to ensure its primary election is always the first primary. The biggest difference is that unlike Iowa, New Hampshire has a more open primary system. New Hampshire also doesn't have anywhere near the number of white evangelical conservatives that vote in the Republican primary as Iowa does.
